What can wordpress do for you?

WordPress is a CMS, or content management system

How do they work and why are they so often hard to understand.

There are so many CMS software solutions out there, you might imagine that it is difficult to
find one that is easy to use.

WordPress is one of the most versatile and scalable website platforms in existence.

It’s ease of use is unparalleled by almost anything (except perhaps a toaster), and it’s functionality can be expanded within seconds by installing plug-ins. In this article, we’re going to focus on what they are, and some examples of what they can do.

To begin, what exactly are plug-ins? In essence, they modify software by “plugging in” extra code. This code can do anything from automatically make posts, add extra pages, and on occasion even play annoying music that can’t be shut off. Most plug-ins run independently from the actual WordPress installation, running in parallel.

So, what kind of plug-ins can you get? Almost anything. Let me give you a little exercise – go into your WordPress admin panel. Click the plug-ins menu, then “Add New”. Think of something you want on your blog, and type it into the box. Hit enter, and look at the results. Chances are, somewhere on that list, there’s a plug-in to do exactly what you were looking for. There are plug-ins to increase your Google rank. There are plug-ins to automatically get rid of spam comments. The list is endless.

Some people, especially if new to WordPress, may miss some of the time saving features in the system. When you write a post, it automatically saves itself as a draft every 30 seconds or so. This means if you don’t post, and you accidentally close the window, the post is saved. In addition to this, let’s imagine you’re going on holiday, but you update your blog daily. Not a problem – on the post page, just above the “Publish” option, you can schedule a post to go live at a later time.

But what if you don’t actually want to write a post at all? WordPress comes in with a built-in “Syndication” feature – this basically means that it looks at websites you specify, and copies over interesting posts. You can even use some of the aforementioned plug-ins to filter these so you get specific content. What if you hate the way it looks? No problem, just head into the themes menu. Explore the hundreds of themes other people have made – it saves time on making your own, that’s for sure.

The only real way to find all of the features you need in WordPress is experimentation. Sure, you can read articles, ask friends, but the only true way to learn is by teaching yourself.

The Value of Content just went up…

Developing real content for the new era in Search engine results.

What you may not know about SEO and Google could be killing your website.

This website exists to help communicate the importance of developing original content that will attract organic website traffic.

It is a method of writing, blogging, posting, that has been developed by experienced writers to help you get the most out of your content.

Over the last six months we have been focusing on a method of writing that would produce good results over time.

It does require work, however, it can be done and there are tools to help you develop that content faster and with more precision than you might think. Google issued a challenge to website owners, that challenge is to create more original content and less low value content, which means a little more work on you part, however, you can do this if you really want to develop good content it is not that difficult.

One of the big challenges facing the wordpress website builder and owner is the idea that you can get a free lunch.

There is no free lunch, that is why so many that try to get ahead in google fail to continue to achieve success online.

These are what we call short cuts or tricks that tend to work for a very short time, however many so called, SEO gurus use this to trick people into buying a particular product or service with the promise that they will achieve great SEO results.

Sadly this is far from the truth.

In one of the most heart breaking examples was a fantastic website that still get huge amounts of traffic, from many different search engines.
Except Google, we hired an unknown SEO agent to do some work, for us and over time we paid a sum of money for the work they did and the result was frankly horrible, we were de-indexed by google.  We asked them what we could do to fix the issue and never received a reply, we tried everything we could do to try and get it right, but still no result, that website is still de-indexed at google yet we receive over one million hits per month from many other search engines online we provide good clean content all original.

So in effect we are being punished for a mistake someone else made while working for us.

Apparently there is no reprieve even when they claim that you can submit for reconsideration, it has not resulted in any meaningful communication between us and google, on this one website, we have no idea why they have not indexed this website it is a great website, full of exceptional content, so be careful who you choose to do work for you because apparently google does not forgive nor do they communicate with anyone for any reason.

A liberals Day at the Zoo

Fun in the sun hey its what life if all about and just for the record Auto Blogging is for fools and chumps…

I know it is an amazing thing to see someone come into a forum and use nasty talk and to call people names while doing nothing to provide any value to that venue.

On one of these recent times I had enough, I have seen so many of these people who have no real knowledge but try to bluff their way from post to post by calling people names and insulting your intelligence.   Even when you try to be nice to them they turn and try to insult you again so I called the pipsqueak out, I treated him as he treated me.

Yes, I stooped to his level but you should see the other idoit…

What were we discussing you might ask well we were discussing the efficacy of Auto Blogging…

That dishonored practice of content scraping and begging borrowing and stealing content from other people and trying to pass it off as your own, that is what Auto blogging is it is Theft plain and simple.

An auto blogger is a Thief…

Simple and plain yes it is and that is what auto blogging really is and apparently google agrees because they have indicated that the days of content farms and blog farms are about to end with gnashing of teeth.   So on to our discussion, I content strongly that you cannot use Autoblogging alone and expect to profit from a website.

This other rather ignorant personage whom stooped to name calling early in the discussion and refused to provide any proof what so ever of any of the rants that he engaged in the more I challenged him to produce some form of acceptable proof of his wild and plainly wrong headed claims the more he would begin to use foul language in his posts, soon it just became obvious that the guy was just a poser and probably did not even own a website but he was posting about how great Auto blogging is while he himself owns no auto blog, interesting stuff for sure.

So the end of the day, he called me more names, and talked about everything but my mother so I finally just sick and tired of this liberals agenda.

(it is the agenda of the liberal that if they cannot win an argument they will call you names)

(it is the agenda of the liberal that if they cannot make you mad they will sling mud at you)

(the one thing they will never do is to accept a real life challenge)

So that is what I did I challenged this sot to battle a duel of websites and the theories that he believed in (autoblogging)

Versus the theories that I believe in which involve using original content to provided a better quality user experience.

Once it became clear that he did not in fact even know how to create a website, then I was sort of disappointed, because

if he was half as knowledgeable as he seems to think that he is then certainly he would be able to prove it by creating a brand

new website and certainly he would be willing to do that in full view of the warrior forum.

In fact I was prepared to put $1000.00 up to prove that I can out perform an auto blog using my techniques versus Auto Blogging.

Sadly it was not to be, I was hoping that there would be a revelation of the truth here and that is that Auto blogging is done, over, Finished, it is

a lost hope on the world of the search engines, it is a fools errand.

So, I make this challenge to the world at large, if you think you can out perform me using an Auto Blogging tool just let me know and we will put it to the test.

I say Auto Blogging is a waste of your time and energy, I say that auto blogging is in the domain of the thief.

Google gone too far?

Has google gone too far in its push for better higher quality search results?

That may well be the case, of course I do believe some changes were called for however some of the changes seem to be a bit over the top.

For example I wanted to look up a product on using Google, I could have used bing, or some other search engine, there are a lot of them.

But you know how it is you just reach for the tool that is best and easiest to use, usually that is google.

However, things have changed, used to be if you just put in a few keywords you could easily find what you were looking for, sure there were a lot of unrelated search results, but hey as long as I could find what I was looking for without really getting frustrated or without using up too much of my own time in the process I am happy to take the easiest pathway to where I want to get to.

The thing is that I could not remember the name of this product, there was some block going on in my head and I just could not remember it I remembered the first name of the CEO, but not the website address, I remembered what the product was but not the name of the product.

So I ran over to my trusted friend Mr. or Ms. Google, depending on your preferred viewpoint and I ran a search using what I could remember of the product, and the name of the CEO,

(Nothing related to the product I was searching for)

Ok, back up and try again…

I tried to search for the general product category, then the name of the CEO, nothing. . .

Ok, now I am getting a little irritated and ready to look somewhere else.

I try for a third time and come up empty, now I am starting to wonder what is going on because I know this is a popular product and should not be that hard to discover using google.

But Now that I am getting frustrated with the user experience now I am starting to feel like the changes google made may not be putting me first, and I am the only reason that Google should be concerned with, (right) well ok probably not, but without people searching google for products they want to buy how long before the stock price of Goog starts to go down.

What I finally had to do was to go on my hard drive and find an email where I had communicated with the CEO and then I was able to get the product name, yes, I know but when you deal with hundreds of CEOs and thousands of products eventually you are bound to forget some details.

Still the issue remains, if consumers cannot find what they are looking for on Google, how long before the high stock prices that they have enjoyed for the past five years start to falter?

I understand the need to combat grey and black hat techniques but not at the expense of the consumer, that is just not a smart way to do business.   So here is hoping that google does the right thing here and develops a better way to present the best search results without interrupting the consumer experience.

Why Page rank is dead and why you should be celebrating.

Funeral announcement, The death of page rank,  funeral to be held later today.

Survived by his wife the web 2.0 and their children Flash and JavaScript.

While the title may be somewhat humorous, depending on your temperament, the subject should really make you think about how quickly the internet changes and how you could find yourself attending a funeral when you really might be better off celebrating.

Page rank is no longer really an effective method of measuring a webpage or websites popularity.

Why Page rank could be soon to be the subject of an obituary is something that you should pay attention to, it is a story that begs to be told but so few know of its demise that most people still think it is important.

If page rank were a dog, in dogie years, the idea and concept of page rank would be very old by now, in fact, even Google, has been hinting that they no longer really care about what is or is not ranked, yet, for the most part, many many webmasters, seem to have the strange idea that if a web page is not ranked highly it has no value and no traffic, the truth just does not reflect that.

So if page rank is dead and even google does not really care about page rank why should you?

The answer is you should not, in fact, for the most part, it is easier to get better results on bing and yahoo then it is on google, while google will always be a force in the online world, it is not as popular as it once was and if they do not start moving from a corporate only business model then eventually when they start to loose those large corporate customers, they will begin to miss the little guys, yep the ones that made google so popular in the first place.

For the most part google has abandoned its user base in favor of large corporate clients.

So, hopefully they will realize that eventually the big corporations are not the real customer but the customer of the large corporate clients, now that is what is really important.

So now that we have determined that Page Rank is dead, what is important?

Updated content is the new page rank.

Content used to be king, but now updated content is king, and not just updated but fresh content now that is the key to your SEO, success.

Generating content is no longer enough.

Updating content is no longer enough.

You have to do a little of both, at the same time, generating unique content and updating and generating that unique content, at the same time, now that is the new key to SEO, yet so few people realize that this important thing has taken place in the long term SEO world, many people are still trying to gain SEO value through PPC and CPA but that has been a proven failure.

Updating and generating unique content then updating that content with new updated content.

Sounds confusing right, but not really, consider how an editor works, yes, thats right as an editor works he or she upgrades the content or book or article they are working on.

Editing content is not easy, it involves a process of working and usually you cannot do it all at one time you should edit that content as you go and you should edit content on a continual basis.

Edit then read it then edit it some more, always with the goal of improving that content in this way you can generate unique and updated content which is always fresh and always better than it was before you started editing that content.

There is a balance, that you need to maintain, too much and your blog will suffer, if a visitor comes to your website and all they see are advertisements, they will not want to return and you need repeat visitors in order to really make a difference.

In many ways, unless your website is over 60 days old it is not the best time to be using ad sense.

You can do ok, with Adsense, but you really want a well aged, website, at least, 60 days.
